Terms
Be a teacher in good faith. We’ll be a good tool.
Last updated: July 16, 2026 · v1.2 (alpha)
These are the terms of using Greta. Plain English first. If you sign up, you agree to these.
Who can use Greta
- You must be 18 or older.
- You must be a current or former classroom teacher, instructional aide, learning support specialist, or similar role. Greta isn’t built for non-educators and we’ll cancel and refund accounts that aren’t.
- One human, one account. Don’t share logins.
What you’re paying for
- Monthly: $20 per month, charged in advance, cancel anytime.
- Annual: $200 per year, charged in advance, cancel anytime (refund policy below).
- Includes unlimited daily voice memos, drafts, and kid cards.
- Voice conversation feature: 30 minutes per month included, $0.20 per minute after.
Prices may change. If they do, we’ll email you 30 days in advance and you can cancel before the new price takes effect.
Refunds
- Monthly: cancel anytime. We don’t prorate, but the next charge stops.
- Annual: full refund within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked. After 30 days, email us — we’ll usually prorate.
- If Greta is materially broken for more than 24 hours, email us and we’ll credit or refund the affected period.
Your data, your rights
You own everything you put in Greta — your notes, voice memos, drafts, kid cards. We claim no ownership and no license to use it beyond running Greta for you. See the Privacy page for details.
Text messaging terms
Program name: Greta Text Message Capture. This optional program lets an authenticated teacher verify their own mobile number, text classroom notes or photos to Greta, and receive automated verification codes, capture confirmations, clarification questions, service messages, and an optional daily capture reminder.
- Consent:You enroll from Settings → Connections → Text messages by entering your own mobile number, affirmatively checking the separate, unchecked text-message consent box, requesting a verification code, and completing verification. Text messaging is optional and is not a condition of purchasing or using Greta.
- Frequency: Message frequency varies based on the notes you send and the replies they require. If you separately enable reminders, Greta sends no more than one scheduled reminder per day.
- Rates:Message and data rates may apply to messages sent to and from Greta. Your mobile carrier’s rates and terms govern those charges.
- Opt out: Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe.Greta will confirm the opt-out and send no further ordinary messages unless you enroll again. You can also disconnect text messaging in Greta’s Settings.
- Opt back in: Reply START only to re-opt in after STOP when the same number is still connected and previously verified. A new, changed, disconnected, or no-longer-verified number must use the Settings consent-and-verification flow.
- Help: Reply HELP for assistance or email support@teachgreta.com.
- Delivery: Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on carrier availability and is not guaranteed.
- Privacy: Mobile phone numbers and messaging consent are handled under our Privacy Policy. We do not share or sell mobile opt-in data or consent to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Greta to:
- Store official student records (grades, attendance, IEPs, disciplinary files) — those belong in your district’s SIS or special education platform. See our FERPA page.
- Store information about anyone other than your own students and their families.
- Send harassing, threatening, or deceptive communications using Greta-generated drafts.
- Reverse-engineer the app, scrape the AI responses, or attempt to extract Anthropic’s model weights.
- Resell or sublicense access to Greta.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section. We’ll refund any unused prepaid time unless the violation involves harm to children, in which case we’ll notify the appropriate authorities.
What Greta isn’t
- Not a counselor, therapist, or licensed mental health professional. If a student is in crisis, follow your school’s protocol — Greta is not a substitute for a real person.
- Not a legal advisor on FERPA, IDEA, or your state’s student privacy laws. We’ll tell you what we know, but don’t treat us as your district’s counsel.
- Not a contracted school system. Districts haven’t signed agreements with us. Greta is your personal subscription.
AI outputs
Greta uses large language models (Claude, by Anthropic) to draft emails, summaries, and other artifacts. These models are excellent but not infallible.
- You are responsible for reviewing every draft before it leaves Greta.
- Greta drafts; you send. We don’t auto-send anything.
- If Greta hallucinates a fact about a student, that’s on us to fix and on you to catch in review. Tell us and we’ll improve the prompts.
Standards grounding
When enabled, Greta may use the Learning Commons Knowledge Graph to resolve academic standard codes for class- and week-level planning context. This is not a grading, placement, formal evaluation, or other high-stakes educational decision tool. Review the context as part of your own professional judgment. Greta sends structured standard codes and limited planning metadata to the provider, not raw classroom notes, student names, or parent communications. Learning Commons standards data is credited under the CC BY 4.0 license.
Service availability
We aim for 99.5% uptime. We’re a small team — not 24/7 enterprise on-call. If something is broken, email hello@teachgreta.com and we’ll respond as fast as we can. Status page: coming soon.
Liability
We provide Greta “as is.” To the extent allowed by law, we’re not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to Greta is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior. None of this limits liability for things the law says can’t be limited (gross negligence, fraud, etc.).
Changes to these terms
If we change anything material, we’ll email you 30 days in advance. Continuing to use Greta after the change date counts as accepting the new terms. If you don’t agree, cancel before the change date and we’ll refund any unused prepaid time.
